GIS & Geospatial Systems

GIS & WebGIS Software Development

WebGIS applications, spatial data and map-based field tools that connect location data to real workflows, from an engineer who has built GIS software since 2006.

What I build

GIS is a software problem, not only a map

The value of a map comes from the system behind it: the data model, the spatial queries, the workflows that use location, and the apps people carry into the field. I approach GIS as backend and architecture work first.

  • 01

    WebGIS applications

Browser-based GIS for municipal services and emergency response, including damage and aid estimation and nearest-facility analysis.

  • 02

    Spatial data and queries

Spatial queries and stored procedures in SQL Server, PostgreSQL synchronization, and property maps tied to business workflows.

  • 03

    Field and mobile apps

Android and Kotlin apps with offline maps, tracking and photo or video capture; offline tile caching with MapProxy.

  • 04

    Desktop GIS and CAD integrations

ArcGIS plugins with Oracle synchronization, ArcEngine vehicle tracking, and AutoCAD automation for land-parcel boundaries.

How to start

Start From Your Situation

Every engagement starts small and ends with written outputs. Software engineering with spatial data, not surveying or cartographic production.

Building something new?

01 System Design

For a new product or major capability, before serious development starts: clear system boundaries and an implementation direction.

You receive

  • System boundaries and main flows
  • Architecture decisions, written down with their trade-offs
  • An initial implementation direction for the team

Not included Full implementation, UI design and infrastructure provisioning.

02 Architecture Review

For a team with a running system, often on .NET, that is unsure about its structure or where to take it next: what to improve, what to keep, and where to start.

You receive

  • Issues ranked by impact
  • Options for improvement, including what to keep
  • Recommended next steps and a first slice

Not included Executing the full migration or refactoring, which can follow as a separate engagement.

Facing backend performance or reliability issues?

03 Backend Reliability Assessment

For slow responses, recurring errors or failing background processing, investigated before committing to a major rewrite.

You receive

  • Findings from the investigation
  • Hypotheses tested, and what they showed
  • Corrective actions in priority order

Not included Ongoing production support or 24/7 on-call.

Scope, duration and pricing are agreed after a first conversation, once the problem is clear.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do you build WebGIS applications?

Yes. I have built and contributed to WebGIS applications for municipal platforms, emergency response and sales distribution, using ASP.NET, Django and PostgreSQL.

Can you add maps and spatial queries to an existing .NET system?

Yes. On a municipal platform I optimized SQL Server spatial queries, stored procedures and triggers, and tied requests and cases to property maps.

Do you build field apps that work offline?

Yes. I have built Android apps with offline maps for city data collection, and offline tile caching with MapProxy.

Do you work with ArcGIS?

Yes. I have developed ArcGIS plugins synchronized with an Oracle database and ArcEngine-based Windows applications for vehicle tracking.
